I first learned about the climate crisis in my middle school during a South Platte Water testing project. After seeing the pollution in our waters, I realized it extended into their air, land, and ocean. Climate change impacts you no matter who you are or where you come from. It is critical that DPS advances robust climate policy to build a breathable world — one where our generation can survive. Our journey as a team has been difficult and at times discouraging, but we are determined to make DPS a leader in climate action. Through our policy and end statement updates, we hope to focus the entire organizational culture of DPS on sustainability, climate action, and environmental justice. While our May 2021 Resolution will not continue due to the board's governance shift, we will apply its principles to the DPS Department of Sustainability. Further, DPS for Climate Action will facilitate a district-to-student connection.

We’re in this work to ensure a cleaner world, not only for us, but for future generations. We all live on this earth together, so solutions must be derived working together! By combining our hearts and minds into meaningful action, I know we can create the future we want!

Maya Kitei

Climate change is growing at a hazardous pace and our futures depend on us taking action. This climate legislation is one step in the right direction for each and every individual in our society for generations to come. The clock is ticking and we have no time to waste!

Eleanor Goldstein

Climate change is real. More than anything, I want to inspire other people to take action and understand this issue. We all have an opportunity to make an impact and make positive worldwide change. Climate change effects everybody. We must take care of our earth because we all need it to survive.

Caroline Brown

By being a part of this group, we are going to be able to use 100% clean electricity by 2030 in accordance with Denver’s 100% renewable action plan and to make sustainability a core value of the district and consider sustainability when making decisions.
